Sod Installations

GHL | A Complete Guide on Sod Installations in the Southeast

Our proven, twelve-step sod installation process can be separated into (3) stages:

1. Preparation

Properly preparing the project site – the most vital stage of any sod installation – includes conducting a soil analysis of the underlying soil, heavily rototilling the ground for oxygenation, sifting out any unwanted rocks, roots, or, debris; and precisely amending the soil according to the results of the soil analysis.

2. Installation:

Failure to follow each collegiately-recommended step for installing sod can be devastating to the long-term results of one’s hard work. If the correct products & procedures are not carefully observed, then one will unfortunately be left with rectangular pieces of lifeless grass, a skinnier wallet, and an excess of frustration and agitation.

3. Irrigation:

Keeping the freshly installed sod adequately irrigated for the ensuing month after installation is critical to ensuring that the roots grow to a heathy size and depth. Additionally, we share an After-care Document with you to meticulously explain the necessary steps for both immediate aftercare as well as long-term aftercare. Those Aftercare Documents can be found in PDF format here:
